Getting started with Folio UK.
Folio is an evidence workspace over the UK public record. This page covers everything you need for your first investigation.
Your first investigation
1 · Start from an identifier
Search by company number, MNIS member ID or authority code where you can. Folio resolves entities on official identifiers only, so an identifier gives you the exact record with no ambiguity.
2 · Read the dossier
Every entity page collects its evidence in one place: timeline, relationships, financial interests, procurement and provenance. Each row links back to the publisher's own page.
3 · Check provenance
Open the provenance drawer on any record to see the source name, source URL and when the record was retrieved and verified.
4 · Save to an investigation
Add records to an investigation workspace to keep evidence together, annotate it, and share it with colleagues.
5 · Watch and export
Watch an entity to be notified when new evidence lands, and export any investigation as JSON, CSV or a PDF report with its provenance intact.

What Folio will not do
Folio does not infer wrongdoing, score people, or generate conclusions. Entities are matched on official identifiers, never on names, and any figure we cannot count is shown as uncounted rather than estimated.
